The Eagle Eye Marketing Club, newly founded this year, teaches students about marketing and promotes student events. Utilizing their Instagram page @ecfsstudentactivities<\/a> and poster-making talents, the club creates more student involvement in all aspects of student life at Fieldston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucas Hanson Mathur (Form V), founder and president of the club, is in his first year at Fieldston. At his previous school, he was the co-vice president of the marketing club. \u201cWhen I came to Fieldston, I felt like it lacked the same student promotion I had at my old school,\u201d Mathur said. He started the club with two of his friends, Abe Lambert (Form V) and Tobin Tracy (Form V). \u201c[On Instagram] there\u2019s ECFS this, ECFS that,\u201d said Mathur. \u201cBut there\u2019s no central student portal. I wanted to create that.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n

Lambert, co-vice president of the club alongside Tracy, wants \u201cstudents to learn how to use platforms like Canva to create posters as a form of promotion and brand marketing.\u201d As they create promotional posters, members are experimenting with different styles and learning what works best for engagement. Mathur said plainly, \u201cIf the poster is unappealing, then no one is going to go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

It was a quiet first semester for the club. Beyond the first post in October, announcing the club and its mission, the club\u2019s Instagram remained blank. \u201cWe were waiting on approval for a Canva Pro subscription,\u201d Mathur explained. \u201cWe were also in talks with the design team at Fieldston.\u201d In recent weeks, the club picked up its activity, especially on Instagram. On the first of February, the club unveiled a new post promoting the Challenge Cancer Club\u2019s bake sale. \u201cWe realized we needed to just start and thought [the bake sale] was a good and simple way to do that,\u201d said Mathur. Soon after, the club continued its momentum with posts about Fieldston sports events and another event organized by the Challenge Cancer Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A productive future lies ahead for the still-developing club. Mathur and Lambert both expressed enthusiasm about potential Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) and other leaders in the marketing world speaking with the club. \u201cWe want to learn [from the speakers] about real-world marketing and the skills it takes to market outside of a school setting,\u201d said Mathur. \u201cKnowing real-world marketing skills is more important than ever. Everyone has to know how to market themselves, from things like college applications to job interviews.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n
