On October 14th, under the rainiest of skies and the greyest of days, Fieldston\u2019s Homecoming took place. And it felt great! Fieldston athletes played a variety of sports and showed up with energy and enthusiasm! Hordes of alums, parents, faculty, students and members of the board joined us to support our teams including boys and girls soccer, field hockey, football, volleyball and water polo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before Homecoming, however, we had Spirit Week and the Pep Rally.<\/p>\n\n\n

The week started off with expressions of spirit across all grades. Each day packed an added punch. Wednesday, October 11th was Jersey Day! Everyone came to school in their favorite sports team\u2019s jersey or shirt. Students had lots of fun talking about their favorite teams and representing them throughout the day. Thursday was Blackout Day for the Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors, while the Seniors had Neon Day. This day is important to highlight our class of \u201824 Seniors with neon colors! Finally, Friday, the most exciting day of the whole week, Pep Rally day! Pep Rally is really where choreography meets fashion and art, underscored by sheer pandemonium. It\u2019s a collective culmination. Everyone comes to school in their favorite Fieldston merch. We start the day by getting off the buses to be greeted by all the seniors! They have shaving cream and blue and orange hair spray and they spray students with it as they walk into school. It is so much wild orchestrated fun.<\/p>\n\n\n

The whole day everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for the Pep Rally in the late afternoon.. Pep rally is when all of the fall varsity teams make a dance and perform it for the school, and there are also different competitions and exciting surprises. It starts with an amazing performance from the highly mobile percussion band. Next, the supervisors of Fun Times, Amiri Moreno (Form VI) and Joss Horn (Form VI), announced which of the teams would be performing their dance. This year a fun addition was added to the pep rally. The main directors of the athletics department rated each dance and they rated each dance from 1-10. This year water polo won! After this was over there was a pie-eating contest. After that, all the captains of the fall teams played tug-of-war with the coaches. The captains won!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, onto Saturday. Homecoming finally arrived and the wait was over! People\u2019s spirits were undimmed by the weather. What seemed to be a trickle of people at 11:30 am became a flood of people for the football game. Generations of alums and teachers reconnected at the alumni tent, in the Commons, in the gym, and on the lower and upper fields. Despite the sprawl of people, someone commented that the day felt remarkably intimate. All the teams did \u201camazingly\u201d and the support from so many friends and family members definitely helped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Everyone had so much fun at homecoming and we hope to carry the school spirit with us throughout the whole school year! See you next year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
