The red belt keeps them up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slides on over the red socks<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Into the car with a pillow to sleep for the hour drive<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the field at 8:00<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warm ups taking 30 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slides become cleats <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pillow becomes a helmet <\/p>\n\n\n\n
up at the plate<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bat swings as hard as possible<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every ounce of anger towards anyone is taken out on the ball<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That neon yellow ball goes flying<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A girl with legs pumping <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adrenaline rushing through her veins<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A call from a man who I hardly know<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cshe\u2019s safe\u201d he yelled <\/p>\n\n\n\n
my team cheers<\/p>\n\n\n\n
cheers of success<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drama and failure from off the field gone <\/p>\n\n\n\n
None of that matters in these three hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most peace I feel all day<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Surrounded by noises and screaming<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are taught to win and lose with grace<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To love and respect the community around us<\/p>\n\n\n\n
