At Fieldston, homecoming is an important tradition. It\u2019s a tradition that has been going for a long long time. Homecoming gives you a sense of community, candy, and most importantly ORANGE! As you might know, orange and white (with a little blue thrown in) are the school colors and the school doesn\u2019t take them lightly. Let’s just say that a lot of people wear orange tutus and have face paint on! Also at Homecoming, there are loads of sports games throughout the day.
Every year there are a lot of sports going on but I would say that the most important one is the football game. Fortunately for us, we won this year’s game with a 20-15 total score! Also at this year’s game, the cheerleading \u201cteam\u201d had their debut. They had a lot of really cool dances and they had a fantastic halftime show. Unfortunately, in this year’s boys varsity soccer game the Eagles lost 2-3. At the water polo game, we won 17-15. The field hockey team lost 0-1. The volleyball team won 3-0!
Community is also a big part of homecoming. Coach John said, \u201cHomecoming is a great way to see old students with their kids and reconnect with the people he hadn\u2019t seen in years.\u201d But homecoming isn\u2019t all about the adults and sports, there are a lot of activities for the kids including sweets, scavenger hunts, and guessing how many magnets are in a jar! These are some of the biggest ones but there are also sweets and different little things. In a usual year, there is a 5th-grade carnival full of activities for the youngsters, including face painting, making tape wallets, bouncy houses, and many, many more!
As you can see homecoming is a very important tradition for Fieldston and it shapes its community. I hope that you can once again come to homecoming and experience all that I\u2019ve talked about.
