Fieldston\u2019s Homecoming has historically been one of the biggest and most exciting sporting events at the school, with alumni, parents and students of all ages coming to cheer on various teams. This year was no different.

Varsity Football Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Field hockey has had a great season so far, making the Homecoming game even more exciting. Every player was determined to play her hardest. \u201cThere was a lot of stress going into the game, but before we started playing, we told ourselves that we just had to keep doing what we had been doing the entire season,\u201d said Maddy Brooks (VI). The team successfully brought in a win against Riverdale in a very exciting game. The players\u2019 technique have developed greatly over the past few weeks and even since last year. Although their new skills have played a great part in advancing the team\u2019s winning record, Lindsay Ravetz (VI) attributes it to something else, as well. \u201cThe relationships we\u2019ve developed with one another definitely contributes a lot to the success of our game,\u201d said Ravetz.

Girls Varsity Field Hockey Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Boys varsity soccer defeated Riverdale, which contributed to their winning streak this season. Going into the game, the boys were a little nervous because they knew they had to uphold their winning title, but a few minutes into the game, it was already clear they had nothing to worry about. \u201cThe atmosphere was really good during the game,\u201d said Sebastian Murray (VI). \u201cThe crowd was cheering us on a lot and it really got us hyped to play our best game.\u201d It was a really fun match to watch, and it was clear that the boys put in a lot of hard work to get where they are both on Homecoming game and throughout the rest of their season. \u201cWe knew that coming off of our crazy winning streak we really needed to perform at Homecoming,\u201d said Jason Najjar (VI). \u201cIt is always so much fun playing at one of the biggest sporting events at Fieldston. Even though we have been consistently winning in the past, the Homecoming win felt different. We were surrounded by all of our fans and it made the win so much better.\u201d

Boys Varsity Soccer Game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Girls varsity soccer had a tough loss at Homecoming this year. This past season, the girls have had a really good record compared to previous seasons, and the team feels that this is the first time they have really found their groove as a team. Abby Gewirtz (VI) said, \u201cRiverdale has always been one of our biggest competitors, but we\u2019re playing better than we\u2019ve ever played since I\u2019ve been on the team.\u201d Even though they lost, it was a very exciting game to watch, the score being 0-0 at half time. The team was very disappointed in themselves, but they were also excited that they were able to show the progression they have made in practice and other games. Marie Goldfarb (VI) said, \u201cWe\u2019ve been connecting really well during our recent games, so being able to come together on our home field and show everyone what we\u2019ve been working on is really exciting.\u201d

Water polo has had a difficult season this fall, but that did not stop them from trying their hardest going into Homecoming. The game was a tough one but the team noticed all the progress it had made over the course of the season. \u201cEven though we did not have the outcome we would have liked, I\u2019m proud of how the team played at Homecoming,\u201d said Matthew Brown (VI). \u201cIt was probably one of the most intense, competitive games we have played all season.\u201d

Volleyball is always a fan favorite and one of the most exciting games to watch at Homecoming. Taking on Riverdale, the team emerged victorious with a 3-1 score. \u201cWe were super excited for homecoming. We love it when the crowd shows up and motivates us,\u201d said Annabel Paul (VI). \u201cI think it is always really important for us to remain positive and not let ourselves get too much in our heads if we lose one game in the match. It is more important if we win the entire match, overall.\u201d

Although Fieldston took some tough losses, every single team fought hard, marking another successful homecoming.
