On March 14, 16 Fieldston Upper students and 3 teachers started their journey to Bangkok, Thailand, Siem Reap, Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. On the 16, after a 25 hour connecting flight to Bangkok, we started our trip with a boat ride along the Chao Phraya to see Wat Arun, the Chakkri Dynasty Royal Temple and the Grand Palace of King X: Vajiralongkorn. For dinner, we took a boat across a river to a fine dining restaurant where we watched traditional Thai dances while eating lemongrass soup, prawns, potatoes, grilled oranges, leaf-wrapped spices, and vegetable-shaped tapioca filled with bean paste for dessert.\u00a0

On the 17th, we went to the Mae Klong Railway Market, a market where the umbrellas over market stands get pulled up as trains come by. After this, we went to a floating market where we held snakes and loris before going to a coconut farm and an organic farm.<\/p>\n\n\n

On our third day, we had an early flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia before ending the day with a trip to the Angkor Wat temple: the largest religious monument in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n

On our fourth day, we toured many more temples, such as Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm Temple, Banteay Srei Temple, and the Terrace of the Elephants, and saw many animals.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the 20th, we saw a botanical garden in Cambodia and flew to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where we ate dinner at the former home of the last president of South Vietnam, Duong Van Minh. On our 6th day, we visited the Cu Chi tunnels, where we got to learn about the Viet Cong before visiting the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the last day of our trip, we biked on an island to a handicraft area where puffed rice, coconut candy and spring rolls are made before ending the trip with karaoke.<\/p>\n\n\n
