{"id":11565,"date":"2025-04-23T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-23T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/?p=11565"},"modified":"2025-04-23T13:49:52","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T13:49:52","slug":"zoe-and-zena-for-fsg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/2025\/04\/zoe-and-zena-for-fsg\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoe and Zena for FSG!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you haven\u2019t spotted us in the City Sem classroom all semester (though between Rube Goldberg and spring break trips, you\u2019ve <em>definitely<\/em> seen us on ECFS\u2019s Instagram), we\u2019re <strong>Zoe Gorman<\/strong> (She\/Her) and <strong>Zena Imafidon <\/strong>(She\/Her), and we\u2019re running to be <em>your<\/em> <strong>FSG Co-Presidents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before we list our initiatives, we want to promise to ACTUALLY follow through with them, so PLEASE hold us accountable. With that, here\u2019s our \u2728Short n\u2019 Sweet\u2728 list of about 6-7 \ud83d\ude09 initiatives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1: Clubs \ud83c\udf89\ud83d\ude0e<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We know Fieldston students love their clubs (or maybe just leaving early during activities\u2026\ud83e\udee3). We hope to improve club commitment by collaborating with the secretary of clubs to create a more detailed club guide \u2014 like the Course of Studies, but club-style. It\u2019ll list all 80+ clubs with short descriptions so 8th graders (and honestly, everyone) can find what fits and see the level of commitment involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2: 8th Grade \u201cCoffee Chats\u201d \u2615 \ud83d\udcac<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a0Don\u2019t get too excited by the name \u2014 there\u2019s probably no actual coffee (unless you <em>finally<\/em> remember to bring your ID for off-campus). These will be 1-on-1 chats between 8th and current 9th-graders to ease the transition to high school. You&#8217;ll talk about classes, schedules, and what to expect. The best part? Your buddy stays with you year to year, like a sibling (but a little less annoying).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3: Manhattan College Course Credit \ud83c\udfeb<\/strong><strong>\ud83c\udf93<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Through Manhattan College, we want to expand on the previous idea of students earning college credit while at Fieldston. It\u2019s a great chance to challenge yourself academically and boost your transcript along the way.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4: TA Program \ud83d\udcda\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udfeb<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students are now becoming Teachers\u2019 Assistants\u2014but how?? We\u2019re proposing a formal TA program for anyone who (somehow?) wants to take (and now teach) a class <em>again<\/em>. You will fill out a short application and share your grade in that class, and we\u2019ll coordinate with teachers to find the best fit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5: Snacks + Drinks \ud83c\udf7f\ud83e\uddc3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We all know the school store\u2019s been \u2026. Missed. We want to reopen it with better drinks and snacks of your choosing. And don&#8217;t worry about getting too full before lunch, considering lunch isn&#8217;t until 2 pm\u2026\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6: Commons \ud83c\udfae\ud83e\ude91<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are we even allowed in the Commons anymore? Half the time, it\u2019s booked for meetings. That\u2019s why we\u2019re advocating to make it our space again, adding games, snacks, seating, and more. The commons should be a spot we want to hang out in (especially since we can&#8217;t use our phones in the library).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7: Have fun! \ud83d\ude03\ud83e\udd2a<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We want to bring moments of joy to your stressful day. Think surprise events, music in the halls, and more. We\u2019re here to make sure that we also make memories while working hard.
