The Fieldston Club fair is a staple of the first semester, an event students and staff alike look forward to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this year did not disappoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Fieldston students, the two factors that make a great club fair are great weather and an abundance of food. This club fair had both. \u201cI love when there&#8217;s so much food. This year, there was so much food, I have a stomach ache already,\u201d said Lily Saal (Form VI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat&#8217;s great about Fieldston is we have 100 clubs and you really have no idea what each one does until you stop and closely look at the posters,\u201d said Saal. \u201cPeople might say they&#8217;re doing it for college, but at the end of the day, everyone has a certain thing that they\u2019re really passionate about. As Student Government\u2019s Secretary of Clubs, Usdin helped set up the club fair, assigning leaders to tables and organizing the event logistics. \u201cIt&#8217;s awesome to see everyone so engaged, everyone&#8217;s been really excited as I sign up for clubs,\u201d said Usdin. \u201cIt&#8217;s also amazing seeing everyone&#8217;s posters, everyone worked very hard to prepare for this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usdin is also a leader of AIM Robotics, a robotics team started outside of school that builds robots and competes in competitions around the Northeast. This is the second year that AIM Robotics is an official Fieldston club participating in the club fair. \u201cHopefully, by creating the Robotics Club, we are able to involve more Fielston students in more STEM opportunities,\u201d said Usdin, talking about the club&#8217;s main goal for this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophia Thompson (Form V) another leader of AIM Robotics, also helped out at the club fair. She and her fellow club member Kai Kim Suzuki built battle robots for the event. \u201cIt&#8217;s been really successful,\u201d said Thompson. \u201cWe&#8217;ve been garnering some people to come and drive and get interested in STEM.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-16-at-4.56.34-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-16-at-4.56.34-PM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10624\" style=\"width:488px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-16-at-4.56.34-PM.png 632w, https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-16-at-4.56.34-PM-300x216.png 300w, https:\/\/fieldstonnews.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-16-at-4.56.34-PM-480x346.png 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>Source: Asher Sacks<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery year brings something different to the table, \u201d said Eve Kaplan (Form VI) \u201cThis club fair is a little chaotic\u2026 but I&#8217;m really excited to see what everyone does and how successful everyone&#8217;s going to be.\u201d Kaplan is a co-leader of the environmental club, one of the most active clubs on campus. \u201cWe&#8217;re trying to implement more sustainable tampons, we&#8217;re trying to implement some more sustainable paper made out of sugar cane,\u201d<strong> <\/strong>Kaplan said, speaking on just some of the club\u2019s many initiatives. \u201cWe&#8217;re really involved in our community at Fieldston, but also our community at large\u2026We do a lot of work with different organizations in the city,\u201d said Kaplan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excitement brewed within the Form III student body during their first club fair. \u201cI signed up for the Fieldston News, [I\u2019m] very excited to possibly write for them,\u201d said Luca Grossberg, an avid writer and younger sibling of former Editor-in-Chief Francesca Grossberg (\u201823). Grossberg was also intrigued by the myriad of opportunities that the club fair gave students. \u201cWhether it&#8217;s helping kids in hospitals or learning how to manage sports\u2026 [there\u2019s] such a wide variety of clubs [at Fieldston],\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the practicality of the club fair, the freshmen were also enjoying the good vibes. \u201c[The club fair] has a lot of energy,\u201d said Form III student Chloe Housel, \u201ceveryone seems really passionate about the clubs they\u2019re running.\u201d Fellow Form III student Parker Ellis also found the club fair fascinating. \u201cIt\u2019s really interesting,\u201d he said, \u201cmeeting all the upperclassmen, sophomores, even freshmen who are running the club.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you signed up for three clubs or all one hundred, the club fair was a captivating activity, and there was no wrong way to experience it. Full of food, laughter and mingling between grades, it was a blast the whole way around.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And don\u2019t forget about the clubs! Between the one hundred clubs exhibited at the club fair, there is something for everyone. Whether it&#8217;s the Environmental Club, the Fieldston News \u2013 or maybe AIM Robotics is more your thing \u2013 your activities period should be jam-packed with clubs to choose from. And if it\u2019s not, no sweat, you can always reach out to leaders to join a club any given week.
