Besides the Co-Presidents themselves, the leaders most visible to the school are the Supervisors of Fun Times (SOFT). Two special, talented and multi-faceted seniors are selected to host the Pep Rally and other “fun” community events. The Supervisors for the Class of 2025 are Reanna Bilbao and Lily Burnside, who made their debuts MCing the Spelling Bee. The self-described “short one” and “tall one” are a close pair, both representing athletic trainer Carolyn Smith’s advisory and the Varsity Field Hockey team. Bilbao describes working together as “super super fun… especially since we are both very passionate about being Supervisors of Fun Times.”

Along with Ruth Taveras, the new Dean of Student Engagement, the two have already put a lot of time and effort into planning future events. Some students were pleasantly surprised to learn that both Supervisors were girls. “I feel dedicated to being a part of a female duo because we can show the community we don’t need a male counterpart to bring school spirit to Fieldston,” adds Bilbao.

While Fieldston’s community has many strong suits, many agree that school spirit is not one of them. For years, athletes struggled with a lack of fan attendance at their games, and the theater department is routinely overlooked. Burnside and Bilbao aim to change that.

According to them, Fieldston students should find pride in their community and look forward to non-academic activities. Burnside says, “We also want to add and continue more fun community traditions and bonding opportunities to make Fieldston feel more like family.” Both commented on introducing more lively assemblies, where hopefully half of the audience isn’t asleep.

As Homecoming nears, Burnside and Bilbao urge the school to shrug off their embarrassment and display some school spirit. This week, students have shown up with varying levels of dedication to the Pajama Day and Wild West themes, and both girls encourage everyone to keep it up for Blackout/Neon on Thursday and ECFS colors on Friday.

For Bilbao, these events mean “The best week of the school year,” when we can admire our friends’ unique outfits at school (and giggle when the teachers dress up too). While it might matter less to the underclassmen, spirit week is very important to the seniors. “I feel like it is especially a celebration to and for the seniors with our last year of high school with one another,” says Burnside.
Both are very excited about the upcoming Pep Rally, and Burnside and Bilbao promise that it will just be the start to a fun-filled year.

Every year, the Fieldston community evolves with the current FSG Cabinet members.
