Lamine Camara and Alex Walker for FSG!

3 mins read

Hey Fieldston! We’re Lamine Camara (He/Him) and Alex Walker (She/Her). We both started in pre-k so we know the school in and out.

I am Alex! I am a varsity volleyball player, a 7th-grade STS leader, a middle school math tutor, and a leader of our school’s Spanish club. When I’m not in class, I’m either studying in the library, at Rolen’s getting a bagel, or taking a nap in the commons. I have also been one of my grade representatives in the student government for the past two years.

I’m Lamine! Captain and Father to the Boys Varsity Soccer underclassman, AIB representative, and leader of MERGE (Men’s Education on Race and Gender Equity), I am a hiking, tea, and jazz connoisseur. Outside of the classroom, I’m either taking out the compost, in the gym, or hanging out with Dean Harris.

As high school students in a rigorous academic setting, we are often plagued with anxiety and unease about the college process and our futures. Indeed, constantly thinking about your future is stressful! How do I find internship opportunities? How are extracurriculars weighed? What do I want to do with my life?! With your help and support, we can update and refurbish Fieldston Connect, an alumni program that hosts opportunities for networking and internships. A variety of opportunities will be available at Fieldston Connect, ranging from internships in labs to working with professional painters in art studios.

Our main goals for next year include:

  • Refurbishing the alumni networking website for fieldston students that is functional, efficient, and easy to use.
  • Introducing winter and spring pep rallies and spirit weeks
  • Building up enthusiasm for programs such as ALPs, FADs, MADs, and other day trips.
  • Advocate for puppy days around finals week
  • Consult Riverdeli and other local businesses about a Fieldston student discount
  • Finally bringing back the school store
  • Establishing a community garden
  • New secretary: Secretary of philanthropy who, alongside with CSLAD and CSAB, supervises whole school fundraisers every quarter. A few days throughout the year will be devoted to school-wide challenges, dodgeball tournaments, obstacle courses, etc., in which the winning team obtains the fundraised money and donates it to whichever fundraiser they deem to be the most deserving.
