FIELDSTON, NEW YORK – The Saturday afternoon of Fieldston’s 2025 Homecoming and the last regular season game, the Eagles put on a show to defeat the Dalton Tigers 42-6. One of the few sunny and cool October days of this year, the Eagles performed in front of by far their largest home crowd of the year, and they didn’t disappoint.

Fieldston intercepted Dalton early on its first offensive possession of the game and soon converted the short drive into a touchdown pass from quarterback Max Thompson (Form IV) to wide receiver Timin Jain (Form VI), followed by a successful extra point from kicker Charlie Sossen (Form V). Sossen finished 6-6 on extra points, missing only a 43-yard field goal, short, in the final minutes of the game. The Eagles dominated the rest of the first two quarters, entering halftime with a 35-6 lead.

The Eagles, led by longtime head coach Gus Ornstein, completely stymied the Tigers’ offense in the second half. The defense didn’t allow a single point and also recorded multiple more interceptions and fumble recoveries, including a pick-six from running back and defensive back Connor Wolfson (Form V).

Wolfson was also on the receiving end of a touchdown pass from Thompson; the sophomore threw for four in total, all in the first half. Jain and wide receiver Shane Mittman (Form VI) each caught two touchdown passes in their last ever game at Fieldston’s home field.

Fieldston’s backup quarterback, Sol Newman (Form IV), finished out the fourth quarter and rushed for a touchdown to give the Eagles their 42-6 lead which stood.

The Eagles didn’t allow a point to the Tigers over the entire second half to secure their second and final victory of the regular season, finishing with an overall record of 2-5. Dalton’s loss sank them to a 1-4 record on the season. Both teams will now spend a week preparing for the upcoming postseason, which begins Saturday, October 25.
