FIELDSTON, NEW YORK – Ellis Lynch Kahn’s 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals led Fieldston to their ninth victory of the 2024-25 season, as they cruised past the York Prep Panthers 72-49 on Wednesday evening. Recording a double-double, Lynch-Kahn (Form VI) shot 10-19 from the field, made his only three-pointer and made both of his free throws.
The Eagles started the game off and running, with a steal and a fastbreak layup from point guard Carter Samuels (Form V). Despite three consecutive three-pointers from York Prep to begin the game, Fieldston jumped out to an 18-13 lead in a completely foul-free first quarter.
Fieldston went on a 17-0 run to start the second quarter, increasing their lead to 22 points before the Panthers inched back to cut the lead to 21 at halftime, with a score of 41-20. They brought the Eagles’ lead down to 19 at the end of the third quarter with a score of 55-36, and in the fourth quarter all the way down to 13 with a score of 62-49.
Still, the Eagles prevailed, closing the game with a 10-0 run.
Fieldston played a remarkably clean game, committing just seven personal fouls (three in the first half, four in the second half) and turning the ball over just three times. Even though York Prep only committed six fouls (two in the first half, four in the second half), they were completely outmatched on the floor, turning the ball over 16 times. Lynch-Kahn, Samuels and forward Kiki Gilbert (Form V) each notched two steals.
Gilbert scored seven points shooting 3-7 from the field and making one of his two free throws, and recorded nine boards and an assist. Samuels added five points on 2-3 shooting and 1-1 from three, to go along with three rebounds and five assists.
