From Thursday, September 11 to Tuesday, September 16, the 2025 New York Fashion Week (NYFW) gave Milan a run for its money by hosting more than 60 runway shows and designer presentations all throughout the city. With Calvin Klein, Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren and so many more brands unleashing their Spring/Summer2026 (SS26) collections to the public, it was an eventful week for the fashion world. The traffic was an understatement for all those in the city, but was it worth it? Absolutely.

Kicking off the week, we had Michael Kors with a runway show at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11. His newest collection was inspired by his recent travels and included themes of “earthy elegance.” Kors also highlighted his attempts to implement lessons from his travels into the outfits he designed for the runway. He says in an interview with The Associated Press, “How do you take all these wonderful soft draped trousers you would find in Morocco and how do you make that urban and make that work in a city?” These beautiful earth-toned designs and loosely fitted clothing were not the only stars of the week. Tory Burch presented a beautiful show on Monday, September 15th, in an old bank in Brooklyn, with a collection inspired by American sportswear. More showstoppers included presentations from Khatie, Off-White and Coach.

The purpose of fashion weeks is to showcase new collections, gain media attention and most importantly, establish new and upcoming fashion trends. With so many influential watchers appearing at these shows, brands work hard to establish new trends in the hopes that they catch fire amongst the crowds of fashion enthusiasts. Popular trends noticed in this previous NYFW included ripped jeans, polka dots and a new popular color.

Ripped jeans are a classic 2010 style that has recently been making quite the comeback. Brands including Area, Brandon Maxell and Simkhai all included the ripped jeans design in their SS26 collections. Another fashion trend resurfacing is the one and only polka dot pattern. This niche design appeared in the shows of Khatie, Altuzarra, and Bach Mai. To finish off the list of popular trends brought back by NYFW, mint green has become a new popular color appearing in multiple collections this past NYFW, and it is the perfect color to lead us into the fall season. From Sandy Liang and Proenza Schouler to Kim Shui, the green shade was seen strutting its way down the runway. Although this fashion week has since ended, new collections are always coming out. It is never boring in the fashion world.
