This past Monday, just a few days after the Class of 2025’s commencement, the rising seniors finally experienced a moment they had all anticipated for years: stepping onto the Senior Grass. For as long as they could remember, that iconic patch of green had been off-limits. The Senior Grass is a symbol of senior privilege and tradition. It isn’t just any lawn; it’s one of Fieldston’s most cherished traditions. Reserved exclusively for seniors, it serves as a place to relax, bond with friends and soak in the joy of their final year together. As the graduating class officially passed the torch, the Class of 2026 enthusiastically claimed the space as their own. The energy was filled with laughter, music and a sense of pride. In other words: SENIOR TAKEOVER!

Dressed in cowboy boots, denim and flannels, the new seniors brought Western flair to their celebration. Music blasted from speakers, chalk covered the brick wall and body paint added color and energy to the festivities. The air buzzed with excitement and pride as the Class of 2026 gathered to mark the beginning of what is going to be an extremely memorable year. Mr. Drybala, dean of the Class of 2026, captured the feeling best as he said the moment felt “mind blowing.” His reaction echoed the emotions felt across the Senior Grass: pride and the thrill of stepping into this new chapter together. With tradition, spirit and a country charm, the Class of 2026 kicked off their senior year in Fieldston fashion. This was an excellent start for an extremely exciting year that is yet to come. The energy and spirit that the Class of 2026 brought was like no other. If this day was any indication, the upcoming year looks like it will be one of the most spirited yet.
