  • Fieldston provides tests for ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and more
  • Testing for all students should be included in tuition (with parental consent)
  • Live Fieldston music concerts
    • One of our first tasks in our community building plan is to bring the school together through a limited series of exclusive music concerts for the Fieldston community. We have already put steps in place with popular charting modern artists and laid the foundation for future performances at Fieldston.
  • More dances (junior prom, homecoming dance, and more)
    • Funding will come from the proceeds of a potential school store
  • Return of the school store
    • We will spearhead the return of the school store, with strict regulations to prohibit any inappropriate behavior. The school store was a great source of community bonding, raising funds for school events, and giving students the chance to manage business finances, and we think the Fieldston community deserves another chance to have the store.
  • All-year-long School Thrift Store
    • While we frequently have pop-up thrift stores throughout the year, we propose to create a year-long store where students, teachers, and faculty can choose to either pay for clothing or exchange an item of theirs for an item from the store with the “Give One, Take One” Option.
    • Proceeds from the store will be donated to a chosen local New York charity.
    • We will work with the community service team to make the store a completely charitable organization (details TBD), and students who work running the store will be eligible for community service credit.
  • More options for Meatless Monday
    • While we appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of those who pushed for Meatless Monday for health and environmental reasons, we’ve learned that many students choose to skip lunch on Mondays due to their dislike of the main food options. We propose that the kitchen increase the number of pizza, pasta, and sandwich options on Monday to accommodate this.
  • All grades are available for students to view 24/7
    • Teachers will be mandated to allow students to view their semester grades on Google Classroom at all times.
  • FSG meetings with forms to hear feedback and wants
    • Once a week, FSG co-presidents will be on the cafeteria balcony during underclassman and upperclassman lunch to hear feedback, complaints, and requests from students.
  • Grade Field Day
    • We will implement individual field days for each grade at the end of the school year. Students will have a complete day to play sports on the field, relax on the quad, enjoy the pool for recreational swimming, and enjoy ice cream and barbecue.
  • Mandated school-provided snacks in every advisory
    • Many students, particularly upperclassmen, have expressed that they do not eat a satisfactory breakfast and remain hungry throughout their morning. We suggest that advisors be provided with a weekly supply of snacks for their advisees to have access to throughout their days.
  • More school spirit-based events
    • We want to bring more Fieldston spirit to many underrepresented Fieldston events. The Hockey Game shows the most Fieldston spirit, which is amazing, and we hope to bring this spirit to more Fieldston socials.
  • Friday Night Football Games
    • In collaboration with the Sports team, we want to have Friday Night Football games! Whether this be friendly scrimmages with nearby schools or scheduling season games to be on Fridays, this will be a great opportunity to increase the attendance at football games and have a fun, community event to look forward to at the end of the week.
  • Affinity group meetings at lunch
    • Affinity groups being moved to Funny Time has resulted in many groups ceasing meetings or seeing a large depletion in membership. We propose allowing affinity groups to meet during
  • Teacher’s office hours posted in Google Classroom
    • Teachers will be asked to post their office hours at the start of each semester on Google Classroom so students can easily see when their teachers are available to meet.
  • Affinity group fair
    • We propose that affinity groups have their own fair, separate from the club fair, in which each affinity group will be given a large space to advertise, increase membership, and bring in cultural food to share with the school. This will be a great opportunity for everyone in the school to get a better understanding of the school’s rich cultural diversity.
  • Extending bus routes to further distances for students
    • Many students outside of the Selby bus routes have expressed how it is difficult to get to school.
    • We will extend these bus routes to locations where more students need to be picked up.
  • Visual Arts Assembly
    • A visual arts assembly will be included in the year’s assembly lineup, where art students can display their work for the school.
  • Official Girls’ Squash Team
    • Due to the large number of female-identifying students who have expressed an interest in playing Squash, we will work to start an official Fieldston Girls Squash team that would enter the NYSAIS league.
