Fall sports are in full swing, and it is safe to say the Girls Varsity Tennis Team has had an eventful and dynamic season so far. From the beginning of preseason preparations to productive practices and challenging matches, the team has maintained high energy, great sportsmanship and relentless effort. Each player has showcased their unique strengths on the court, fostering personal growth and meaningful connections among teammates. This season, the Girls Varsity Tennis Team has truly exemplified what it means to be part of a hardworking and supportive unit.

While the season has brought its challenges, the team has found strength within each other. Form V student, Saskia Sommer, now playing her third season with the team, shares, “The energy of the tennis team this year has been conducive to a really supportive environment. Sometimes, a school setting can make it difficult to branch out of one’s comfort zone and make new friends, but the tennis team has made everybody super close, and thus, there is always a palpable enthusiasm for games, dress-ups or practice. Though our record may not be the best, our real wins are the friendships and connections we have made with one another.”

The team is coached by Danielle Gabriel, better known as Coach D. Gabriel  has led the team since 2021. Now in her fourth season, she has played a crucial role in guiding the players this season with unwavering support and a commitment to their growth. This support has helped create a tangible sense of team spirit. Captain Zoe Hort emphasizes the importance of said team spirit, saying, “The energy has been great so far. I think we really keep everyone energetic. You have to get everyone hyped up.”

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team is more than a group of skilled players; they are family. Their collective experiences of success and challenges create a sense of belonging that extends beyond the court. With their relentless commitment and spirit, the best is yet to come for this incredible team!
