Daniel and Ellie For FSG!

3 mins read

Hey Fieldston!

We’re Ellie Usdin (she/her) and Daniel Blauner (he/him), and we are SO excited to be running to be your next FSG co-presidents. Having been at Fieldston for many years, we love the close bonds formed here and the incredible opportunities that this school provides.

From Ellie playing Bird Girl #3 in the 4th-grade play to Blauner using the eyewash station in the chemistry classroom, you could say that we’ve experienced everything that Fieldston has to offer. We’ve been friends since sixth grade, meaning that we’ve celebrated both the good – when Ellie finally finished her 70-page Montera paper – and the bad – when Blauner got his sophomore-year buzzcut.

As people who love lists (or at least Ellie does), we’ve sorted our initiatives into categories to help you easily read what we’ve been up to!

  1. MORE SCHOOL SPIRIT
    1. Access to school merch
      1. We met with Gus Ornstein to create a schoolwide website that allows students to easily purchase merch and create new designs
    2. In-school sports competitions
      1. Grab your friends to form a team and play against other students throughout the year
    3. School-wide field day!

  1. COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
    1. Affinity group celebrations
      1. Let’s take affinity group conversations outside of assembly and create an interactive atmosphere for everyone by hosting activities for cultural celebrations, food on holidays, and more!
    2. More food around Fieldston
      1. We met with Amy, director of the cafeteria, to create opportunities including guest chefs, cooking classes, and affinity groups/club pop-ups!
    3. Local businesses coming to Fieldston!
      1. We contacted Rolens and Riverdeli to make connections with companies to learn more and get free food!

  1. ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEMS
    1. Job and internship support
      1. We met with the head of the alumni office to construct an online database to help students from all grades have an easier time getting jobs/internships year-long
        1. The database includes guides on how to write your resume and monthly alumni lunches!
      2. Adding an ALUMNI RELATIONS position in the FSG Cabinet
    2. Shared study resources
      1. We met with Dr. Banks to develop organized group study sessions
      2. Working on access to online resources such as Quizlet Plus
    3. Constant communication with students
      1. Monthly newsletter highlighting clubs/affinity groups, FSG, space for feedback, and more!

One last thing about us is that we’re always your biggest advocates. No matter where you are or what you’re experiencing, we’re here for you. We hope to support you as FSG co-presidents –   Vote Ellie and Blauner!!!
