Chase and Zoe For FSG

3 mins read

Hey Fieldston!!! Our names are Chase Shaftel and Zoe Hort. You’ve probably seen us around campus, whether it’s on the basketball court, in the trainer’s room, or just wandering the halls with a smile on our faces. Our journey together began in first grade, where we first met singing morning songs around the classroom. Soon enough, those tunes evolved into our own band, complete with VIP performances on the playground (until it was shut down for making too much noise by the library). Fieldston isn’t just a school to us, it’s our home. And you all, with your energy, diversity, and enthusiasm, make this place truly special. We’ve seen firsthand how this community comes together to support each other, to challenge each other, and to grow together. And we want to be the ones to represent that spirit!

Upon our election 😉, we intend to implement the following initiatives:

Improvements on Student Life,

Community to us encompasses various activities such as supporting each other, enjoying time with friends, celebrating accomplishments, and maintaining our facilities. However, one area where we’ve observed a significant change over time is the Student Commons. Let’s face it, currently, the STUDENT Commons isn’t truly for students anymore. It used to be vibrant, filled with chatter, games like foosball and ping pong, and simply a place to unwind. Sadly, it has now become more about presentations and information sessions. With our leadership, we will bring back a genuine space for students to connect and relax.

Transparency & Student Power!

We’re here to bridge the communication gap and represent you with dedication. Welcome to “Chase & Zoe’s Office Hours,” your ticket to empowerment. A weekly gathering where every student can freely express ideas and shape our school’s future. No more barriers, just an open forum for your voice to be heard and respected. Whether you want to chat, hang out, or suggest improvements, this is your platform. Let’s ensure clear communication between students and administration!

Food!

As long-time students, we recognize the daily hunger pangs everyone experiences. To tackle this, we’re proposing discounted items at (Riv)erdeli, extended breakfast hours, “Cinnamon Roll Mondays,” monthly quad cookouts, more snack bowl locations filled with student-chosen snacks, and addressing vending machine issues post-practices. These efforts aim to keep everyone fueled and content throughout the day!

With your support, we know we can do great things together.

Like grinding corn in a tree stump 🙂

We’ve given you a lot to digest, but remember, whether we win or not, we’ll work hard to make sure everyone feels a part of a strong community. Thank You! – C&Z
