NOTES FROM THE PIANO KEYS

We’re Alexa Citron (she/her) and Gregory Brooks (they/them) and we want you to be in tune with what we’ve got planned for our presidency. You can trust we’re a fire duo because we’ve been locked in like for over a decade.  As presidents, we have a lot that we can achieve, so we want to break our platform down into 4 Focuses!

Social Life and Spaces is our first focus. It seems like you can never find yourself in the commons without your phone being on the verge of death, so we thought it would be useful to have some chargers available. Table tennis and foosball were gone too soon, and the puzzles were a hit in the library, so we’ll bring these back too. And who isn’t jealous of other schools with their homecoming dance? We want to add that to our HOCO traditions.

We also want to get to the bottom of the case of the missing forks, since we know that we (and the environment) are tired of disposable utensils. Food being our second focus, we will send out surveys so we can hear what’s working for you. We all hate being hungry by advisory, so stretching breakfast to get a bite before second class would be ideal. Also, bring the snacks out from hiding so they aren’t all gone before you remember they’re there. We also want to send our love and appreciation to the cafeteria staff because dealing with hungry students is no easy task.

It’s still high school though, so we must mention Academics. We’ve had times when we’ve been slated into classes we didn’t want, so we want to continue the goals of our current presidents with ranked-choice selection. We also aim to streamline your ability to see grades during the year, so you don’t have to do intensive-level math to calculate your history grade.

Our fourth focus is Administration. We want to bring the student body closer to admin by having a monthly lunch with Joe Algrant. We also recognize the importance of mental health on campus, and students of color should be represented in the campus mental health resources, so making sure we bring in a psychologist of color is incredibly valuable. 

Even though we have simply 4 focuses, they will take us far. A vote for us is a vote for ECFS.
