Updates From FSG Co-Presidents!

2 mins read

Hey Fieldston! It’s one of your FSG Co-Presidents, Sophie Basner (she/her). Throughout the year, I am going to be writing a column about our work in FSG, using the column as my “bully pulpit,” so I thought I would kick things off by writing about some of the updates Remy (he/him) and I have been overseeing.

  • THE FIELDSTON MUSE! Diana Bienstock and Masha Zaitsev have created a literary art magazine (soon to be an official club) showcasing a variety of arts: poems, photography, 2D drawings and more. The magazine is also curated by Skye Wu, Caroline Madsen, Emma Medvedsek, and Rachel Youngwood. Anyone else who would like to submit something or help out is welcome to contact (as well as follow) them on Instagram, @thefieldstonmuse.
  • NEW KID PEN PALS! Remember how we said we’ll deliver on our initiatives? Well, Pen Pals was one of them. Remy and I are in the process of getting a list of all the new high school students to write to them! Sylvie Poisson and Lili Hacking are helping us accomplish this goal.
  • FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS! Our secretary of athletics, Caroline Morris, is in contact with Gus about making Friday night football games happen. The games will sadly not be hosted at Fieldston, since the community doesn’t allow the lights, but there is talk of it taking place elsewhere. This is not a promise but Gus is trying to do the best he can.
  • FUN TIMES. Joss Horn and Amiri Moreno have been at work to develop fun ideas, especially for our seniors. Get ready for some new senior merch, the redevelopment of Mic’d Up and exciting Fieldston TikTok content on @funtimesatfieldston.
  • COMMONS. Our secretary of public spaces, Zach Lodish, is already brainstorming bringing some fun games (and other exciting stuff soon to be revealed) back to the commons!

We have way more in store, but I guess you’ll just have to keep up with this column to learn more about it! Stay tuned…
