What up Fieldston!đ«
Our names are Ben Ni (He/Him) and Addy Gorton (She/Her) and weâre looking to be your FSG presidents. From chasing squirrels on the quad to the fantastic academics, weâve always enjoyed and appreciated all that Fieldston has to offer! Throughout our many years at Fieldston (Ben even being here since Pre-k), weâve noticed many good programs and activities that benefit the community. However, we have also seen many aspects of Fieldston that we would like to improve on. For starters, one of our main goals as presidents would be to always follow through on our promises. We all know how it goes, people will make the biggest promises but once they win, half of them go out the window! What the absolute heck is going on with that! So while our goals may not sound as opulent as others, we will work our absolute hardest to follow through on every single one of them.
Concerning our actual goals, one of our biggest gripes comes in the form of inclusion. We want to make sure every voice in our community is heard no matter how small. In order to do this we want to put in place a system that allows anyone to speak directly with us whether that be complaints or compliments. We are striving to cultivate a community that is able to listen to each individual person and improve itself over time. One thing you may know about us is that we both represent ARC for our grade, so we take all studentsâ voices very seriously and do our best to fulfill every request. Another big subject weâve been hearing a lot about is the food and its availability of it, we plan to work heavily with the kitchen staff to start insuring everyone gets what they want whether that be cinnamon rolls during breakfast or even tacos Tuesdays; we would love to cultivate a better experience with everyone getting what they want There has been a lot of concern about snacks, one of our primary goals is to have snacks more available in between classes (that wonât run out in 2 minutes) and snacks available for athletes after practices/games. We also want to work with the CSL department to help rising students understand the requirements they need to complete, and work with the department directly to help students get the information more directly. These just being a few of our goals, we have many more ideas we plan to implement to improve student life. (another goal we are planning to work on is parking for all those driving đ )
Now, moving away from all that business we also have many fun ideas we plan on implementing. Throughout our time here we have noticed a lack of school spirit, we strive to bring the Fieldfun back in Fieldston đ„. Corny jokes aside, we would like to implement a lot more activities seeking gradewide bonding. From more grade trips to homecoming dances, we want to bring our community closer together. I do not want to say the big C event(Covid), but it has pretty obviously negatively impacted our sense of community, we want to bring back a better stronger community. What are some other things we want to add? Well here’s a list of some of our aspirations, more cute animals on campus, vending machines in the cafeteria, bigger tables in the Tate, and having some no-homework rest days just to name some.
In a quick summary, we really just want to improve the Fieldston community and have many ideas in ways we can. We are striving for a more fun and vibrant community where everyone can feel safe and heard. From Benâs exuberant personality to Addyâs serene nature, we would love to serve as your FSG presidents!
