Spring Break Highlights: Styling and Profiling

5 mins read

Just this past week, students returned from a lengthy yet fast-paced spring break that no one felt prepared to come back from. For some, it was a dream. For others, it was a nightmare. From Will Smith quitting the Academy to Doja Cat “quitting” music, freshman student Logan Farmer sums up spring break for all of us: “It was not long enough. So fun though.” After absorbing what students have been devouring over the break, it seems that tropical vacations and embracing the days at home were popular. Some underclassmen and upperclassmen enjoyed the palm tree and ocean life in places like St. Thomas, Antigua, Belize and Miami, while others enjoyed the solace of their beds and spent their leisures feasting on the Grammys.

It also seems that a new source of entertainment has blossomed into the mix over spring break: renditions of the New York Times game Wordle, which include Absurdle, which is the classic Wordle but has infinite guesses, Crosswordle, which is a spinoff of “Sudoku meets Wordle”, Queerdle, which is named the “yassification” of Wordle, the word “yassification” meaning an indication of sudden glamorization and fashion ability. And, even a new one called Heardle, which plays 2-3 seconds of a random song and you have to guess the title in only a few tries. Students have gotten so good at these games that some of them have been guessing the actual Wordle in less than 2 tries. Time to teach us all how!

From Bridgerton to the Andy Warhol Diaries, Netflix was the place to click on your remote if you’re feeling a bit tedious. Bridgerton, Fieldston’s newest obsession, tells the tale of the Bridgerton family’s 8 siblings looking for romance in the heart of England. Season 2 of this show is a smash hit. If you’re looking to rewatch some shows for some glamour and some boldness, try Netflix’s series called Hollywood, which tells the story of the foundation that built what we know today as Hollywood. If you’re a fan of Euphoria, Maude Apatow stars as Henrietta Castella and Pose’s Patti LuPone as Avis set the stage for this show. A season 2 of the reboot of the iconic Sex and the City entitled And Just Like That is also coming out during the summer. You simply cannot go wrong with finding new series that you never want to end. Break was also a paradise for fashion lovers. If you love clothing brands, Supreme is now selling a 3-pack of cherry bomb chapstick for 8 dollars. There’s nothing like it. Balenciaga’s most recent show has taken place in Paris along with models walking barefoot in fake snow. Winter galore! As much as we all want to never stop watching shows, sipping on pina coladas in the tropics, watching the Oscars and laughing ourselves off about Supreme’s new chapstick, what’s a formal ending to spring break without some school reminders? Mx. Arhm Wild’s next Bridge to Bridge event took place Tuesday, April 5. The infamous and outrageous Fieldston fashion show is in less than a month and signups are due by April 15th. Unleash your inner designer by making a dress out of something that isn’t cloth. The Adler Symposium is coming up very soon, so remember to fulfill your community service requirements! Form III students should especially take note. The Special Olympics also taking place on April 30th and all students are welcome to participate as volunteers, sign up now! As our last break until summer break comes to an end, we must always remember that the end is in sight!
