Hey y’all!

We’re Andrew and Hannah, and we’re really excited to get this chance to help out our community of Fieldston students, both old and new. You may have seen us guarding the auditorium steps for the Chicago! assembly, and you (hopefully) didn’t see us working behind the scenes during the actual performance. We’re involved in pretty much every area of student life, from Mock Trial to D&D club, tech theater to sports. We want to bring the sense of community we’ve felt in all these areas to every person on campus (even those who don’t try to take every extracurricular possible). We plan to do this by making your Fieldston experience cleaner, clearer, and overall much more fun!

We know this might not be on everyone’s radar, but the Commons can get really gross after lunchtime. Something you guys have seen, though, is the state of cafeteria food at Fieldston. We want to change both of those things for the better, by improving student communication with the faculty members that we may not interact with as much– the people working in the cafeteria and facilities. The kitchen staff wants us as students to be in contact with them, especially if we aren’t enjoying the food. Believe it or not, the student body does have the power to make food better! With our help, you will all be able to help keep Fieldston’s spaces clean and welcoming, and make sure there’s something good for everyone to eat.

We also want to give students the power of knowledge! That is, knowledge of when things are actually happening on campus and how to participate. We’ve seen confusion in signing up for everything from Inklings to next year’s courses, and especially as to how to fulfill the community service requirement. We plan to make sure that the timeline for everything is absolutely clear, in order to make things easier for both faculty and students. No more last minute Google Forms! We also plan to speak to the Ethics department about making the community service requirement clearer and more impactful to the student completing it. Although all final decisions will be up to the department, we want to organize a roundtable with students who feel passionate about community service and the department heads so that we can work on updating the requirement.

It’s not all business, though– we want to bring back that sense of good ol’ Fieldston camaraderie! We want to make ALPs a yearly event by combining FADs and the Adler Symposium. Having both events yearly gives our community more time together to have fun and learn about things they’re passionate about. We also want to bring back the 9th grade sleepover, the 10th grade Boston trip, and possibly other events depending on student proposals and interest! We’re also in the process of getting you all a discount at Pearl Dynastea 😉

TL;DR

  • Better food
  • Cleaner spaces
  • Clearer communication
  • More ALPs
  • Cheaper bubble tea
  • POWER TO THE STUDENTS!!

We can’t wait to make everyone’s lives better!
