The Fieldston community celebrated Veterans Day by sending over 150 handmade cards to thank those who have served our nation. The cards were delivered thanks to a partnership between Whiskey Bravo, a new club at Fieldston dedicated to thanking the troops, and God’s Love We Deliver, a non-denominational philanthropic organization which serves the homebound across the city.
“Veterans Day is our Super Bowl — our biggest day of the year — and we wanted to do something anyone could do to honor and celebrate those who have served this country,” said Alex Goldberg (IV), co-founder of the Fieldston chapter of Whiskey Bravo.
Since the start of the school year, the Fieldston chapter of Whiskey Bravo had been looking to partner with an organization to connect with veterans in need of support. God’s Love We Deliver offered to distribute thank you cards when delivering food on Veterans Day. Whisky Bravo held card-making sessions during activity periods and placed a box on the quad for submissions, allowing the club to provide enough thank you cards for all of God’s Love We Deliver’s clients who served in the armed forces.
Upon receiving the collection of cards, Roberto Guerrero, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at God’s Love We Deliver thanked Whiskey Bravo’s Fieldston students for their “incredible support.”
