The Final Presidential Debate

2 mins read

Well America, Judgement Day is upon us. I had hoped that the last presidential debate would be a little more civilized than the first. Unfortunately, it was a repeat of the last two: akin to something found on Bravo.

I don’t think the winner of this debate was Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton; I think the real winner of this debate was the moderator, Chris Wallace. Looking back at the past two debates, we have seen the previous moderators get overwhelmed. Wallace actually interrupted both candidates almost as much as both candidates interrupted him or each other, an outstanding accomplishment considering that no prior moderate had successfully done that. Well done Chris.

Throughout the debate, the candidates did bring up some rational points, though they were few and far between.

Trump discussed how America is being “outsmarted” by the Middle East. He explained how Iran became powerful because of us and how Russia is now dominating the region while our attempts to influence Middle Eastern nations are failing miserably. Clinton did make a good point about the Supreme Court and how we need judges that will protect the second amendment to a certain degree. She is right that guns are out of hand, and that some restrictions need to be applied, but the second amendment is a right that just can’t be repealed.

But the fact that those were the few examples of discipline and straight answers from both candidates makes me wonder: Will we even make it as a country? Donald Trump is proposing to be erratic with America’s nukes and strike our enemies at the most unpredictable times. Someone who is willing to say that is frightening and threatens the survival of this country. Additionally, a good portion of people around the world still don’t seem to trust Hillary.

Both candidates will compromise the safety of our nation; while many people didn’t like Obama,  at least he didn’t hide his emails and was somewhat logical. But seriously people: Prepare for the worst.
