For the third year in a row, the girl’s softball team became ivy league champions and champions of the New York State Association of Independent Schools. It was the perfect trifecta—the last two games of the season were intense nail-biters. The one nothing win over Holy Child was accomplished through a solid, centerfield triple by Temma Levis followed by a well-placed, fast, hopping single by Savannah Stern between 1st and 2nd base for the only run of the game.
The victory in the championship game against Poly Prep was even sweeter. The Eagles took the lead early in the game but were challenged by an angry Poly Prep. At two crucial moments, Eagles loaded bases and failed to score and then positioned themselves with first and third and failed to score but at the end of the day, solid fielding and reliable hits kept the Eagles ahead for the win. The day was cold at Manhattanville College but over 60 Fieldston students and parents attended to cheer on the team.
