It’s that time of year again, when we’re forced to trade our bikinis for books and our sun glasses for math classes… But this year there’ll be no need to drop all that cash on a completely new fall wardrobe. With these four easy tips, transition your best summer pieces into autumn’s hippest gear, saving yourself the money and separation anxiety of packing up last season’s favorites!

1. Short and Sweet

Nothing says summer better than a pair of denim shorts. We lived in these timelessly cool cutoffs all season long and a goodbye is nowhere in sight. A plaid button up is easy to throw on over a tee when it starts getting a bit colder. It looks even cooler tied carelessly around the waist of your shorts – adding a hip grunge feel, with bonus practicality.

2. All Dressed up

During summer, a dress is a cool and easy way to survive the heat, and in the chillier seasons, it’s a fun and flirty alternative to the usual pant options. A summer dress translates into fall, layered under an oversized sweater or jacket.  And for that extra oomph, add on your cutest knee-high socks, kicking any outfit up a stylish notch!

3. A Shoe In

Shoes, in addition to being a girl’s best friend (second to diamonds, of course) are one of the most important pieces in mastering the seasonal transition. Put your best foot forward in shorts, a skirt, or even a dress with some ankle height booties. Distressed leather boots give off a rocker vibe, while anything in an earth tone screams autumn.

4. Tee time

A T-shirt, graphic or plain, is a go to top during the warmer months. Cropped and playful, or loose and edgy, this effortless classic totally makes the cut of convertible pieces. Swap the summery bottom halves for a longer pant. And patterned (and/or) leather pants are a trendy piece to take  from one season to the next. Top this super cute outfit off (literally) with a hat. Bowler hats and beanies are this season’s best headgear.

Using these super simple steps, you will make it seem like you have doubled your wardrobe and never have to repeat an outfit! Remember these tips when braving the dropping temperatures and the plunge into the new season. Don’t forget that adding pieces like statement jewelry or a rad bag gives an outfit a personal touch that makes it yours. Now you’re ready to fall fabulously into Autumn!
